SSL certificate renewal reminder on WhatsApp

The certificate expires on a Sunday, browsers show a scary warning, and customers leave.

How to set it on WhatsApp

Check the expiry date on the certificate, then send RememberMyTask: “Remind me to renew the SSL certificate for api.example.com before 20 November”. It nudges you 2 days and 1 day before, so set it a week or two ahead of the real expiry. For auto-renewed certs, set a check “every 60 days” to confirm renewal worked.

Questions

How do I check when a certificate expires?

Click the lock in your browser and view the certificate, or run openssl s_client with -connect and pipe it to openssl x509 -noout -dates.

Why check auto-renewed certificates?

Automated renewal can break silently after a DNS change, a firewall rule or a server move. A periodic check catches it before users do.

What else expires with SSL?

Intermediate chains, certificates on load balancers and CDNs, and certs used in mobile apps or IoT devices. List them all in one place.

Can I set several certs at once?

Send one message per certificate. If several fall due together, they arrive as one numbered message.
