Why deposit before the 5th?
PPF interest for a month is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of the month. Money that arrives after the 5th misses that month’s interest.
What is the minimum and maximum deposit?
It has been Rs 500 minimum and Rs 1.5 lakh maximum per financial year. Check the current limits with your bank or post office.
What if I missed a year?
The account becomes discontinued. You can usually revive it by paying the missed minimum deposits plus a small penalty per year.
Can I set it for my child’s PPF too?
Yes, set a second reminder with the child’s name in it. Both come to your WhatsApp.
