Is there a grace period on mortgage payments?
Many lenders allow a short grace period, often around 15 days, before a late fee. Check your loan documents, and do not rely on it every month.
When should I look at refinancing or a new rate?
If you have a fixed rate that ends, like many UK deals, start comparing a few months before it expires. Otherwise review once a year or when rates move a lot.
What should I check once a year?
Your escrow or annual statement, property tax and insurance amounts, and the remaining balance. Changes in escrow can change your monthly payment.
