Electricity bill reminder on WhatsApp

The bill SMS gets buried, the due date passes, and then comes a late fee or a disconnection notice.

How to set it on WhatsApp

Check your last bill for the usual due date, then send RememberMyTask: “Remind me every month on the 15th to pay the electricity bill, nag me”. If your board bills every two months, use “every 60 days” instead. You can pay by UPI or your board’s website as soon as the reminder arrives.

Questions

When is my electricity bill due?

It depends on your board and billing cycle. Look at the due date printed on your last bill and set the reminder 2 to 3 days earlier.

What do I need to pay it online?

Your consumer number or account ID, which is printed on the bill. Save it in your UPI app’s bill payments so paying takes a minute.

Is there a discount for paying early?

Some boards offer a small prompt payment rebate if you pay before a certain date. Check your bill for it.

Can I remind my landlord to pay?

Only if they agree. Send “remind my landlord Sharma ji on the 10th to pay the electricity bill”; he taps your invite link once and gets the reminder with a Done button. Otherwise, set one for yourself to call him.
